Stuart Kirk McGeagh
BACP Accredited and ATSAC Qualified Integrative Counsellor

Experience and areas of focus
I’m an integrative counsellor with over 15 years’ experience, working with a range of emotional and psychological difficulties.
Part of my work is with people struggling with problematic or compulsive sexual behaviours, including pornography use. This often involves working with patterns that feel difficult to control, alongside the shame, secrecy, and confusion that can come with them.
I also work with individuals affected by sexual abuse, as well as those who have been charged with an offence*, offering a space that is focused on understanding..
How I work
I work in an integrative way, which simply means I adapt counselling to you rather than following a fixed model.
In practice, this includes:
-
exploring how past experiences and relationships continue to shape things in the present
-
understanding patterns in thoughts, feelings, and behaviours
-
working with different aspects of yourself—such as the part that wants things to change and the part that feels stuck
These ideas are not used in a rigid or overly technical way. I'll be actively engaged with you, offering explanations to help make sense of what’s happening in a way that feels clear and relevant. I'll also help you make connections with things that might not feel obvious. This can be challenging, but its crucial if things are to shift.
Training and professional background
My training and experience include:
-
Specialist training in working with compulsive sexual behaviour and pornography use (PCI Dublin)
-
Work with individuals who have sexually offended (STOPSO)
-
Sexual abuse and dysfunction (PIC Dublin)
-
Training in Internal Family Systems (IFS Institute : Level 1)
-
Ongoing professional development and clinical supervision
I am a registered and accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work within their ethical framework. I'm also a member of ATSAC (Associated for the Treatment of Sex Addiction and Impulsivity).
Why this is important
Working with someone who has experience and training in this area means that you're not having to explain or justify what's happened. I understand how these patterns can develop and the role they can play, as well as the shame that often surround them.
